Our check NASA's UAP Independent Study Team final report (14 Sept 2023) states that 'in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, there is no conclusive evidence suggesting an extraterrestrial origin for UAP' and that 'at this point there is no reason to conclude that existing UAP reports have an extraterrestrial source'. Crockett's wording ('has not found any evidence') is a fair paraphrase of that position. The report also stresses that the data are too poor to settle many cases, so absence of evidence here reflects data quality as much as a finding.

The report names overclassification as one driver of poor information sharing in its recommendations, but it does not find that overclassification was 'a key factor in the failure to prevent the attacks'; its own account of the failures centres on information sharing, imagination, policy, capabilities and management. The speaker (Spielberger, answering Crockett) states the link more strongly than the report does.
