What was reported
TASS reported in October 1989 that on 27 September boys playing football in a Voronezh park saw a pink glow and a red ball about three metres across land, and that a tall three-eyed being and a robot emerged; a police lieutenant, Sergei Matveyev, said he saw 'a body flying in the sky'. Genrikh Silanov of the Voronezh geophysical laboratory, the source for the story, said TASS published far more than his group had told it, and a rock described as extraterrestrial proved to be hematite. Radiometric, soil and microbiological checks found nothing anomalous, and Soviet television found no witnesses beyond the children.
