What was reported
Police Constable Alan Godfrey said that around 5 a.m. on 28 November 1980, while looking for straying cattle on Burnley Road, he found a rotating dome-shaped object hovering just above the road, sketched it, and after a burst of light found himself further along the road with time unaccounted for; his radio would not work. He reported it to his superiors, and accounts say a dry patch was found on the wet road, a driver three miles away reported a bright object and a Halifax police patrol saw a blue-white glow descending toward the valley. Hypnotic regression eight months later produced an abduction story that Godfrey himself was unsure was real memory. Some accounts date it to 29 November.
