What was reported

Ashland patrolman Herbert Schirmer, 22, reported that at about 2:30 a.m. a metallic, oval object with red-lit portholes hovered over the highway in front of his car and then rose straight up and left; back at the station he found that about twenty minutes were unaccounted for. The Condon study (Case 42, anonymised as a state trooper) examined the site, found no physical evidence, and after psychological assessment with Schirmer's cooperation had no confidence the event was physically real. Under hypnosis during the Condon investigation and later sessions he described being taken aboard and addressed by humanoid occupants, details that were absent from his log.
