What was reported

Eyewitnesses told the Fars News Agency that a radiant flying object crashed into the Jebal Barez mountains on the morning of 10 January 2007, followed by an explosion and a thick spiral of smoke, with no casualties. Deputy Governor-General Abulghassem Nasrollahi said all aircraft in the area were accounted for and did not rule out a meteor. An unnamed source told the agency that the object was burning and smoking before impact and so could not have been a meteor. No wreckage or later investigation was reported.
