What was reported
Contractor Ed Walters gave the Gulf Breeze Sentinel Polaroid photographs of a glowing, ringed craft hovering near his home, and over the following months reported nineteen encounters, video, a blue beam that lifted him, and telepathic messages, while other residents reported lights. MUFON investigators and Bruce Maccabee backed the photographs, while Willy Smith of UNICAT saw a support under the object and the Center for UFO Studies judged them fake. In 1990, after the family moved, the new owners found a small styrofoam model in the attic, and Pensacola News Journal reporter Craig Myers reproduced the photographed object almost exactly with it. Walters said the model was planted.
