What was reported
At about 3 am forest workers and residents were woken by a roar like a steam train and saw strong lights pass over (accounts differ: red and green lights, or two bright yellow beams heading north-east). In the morning masson pines over more than 400 mu (about 27 hectares) in four zones were found snapped about 1.5 to 2 m above the ground and largely felled in one direction, with some trees untouched, and a metal sieve from a nearby gravel works was lodged about 10 m up in the branches. The site drew thousands of paying visitors; CCTV's Approaching Science later listed it among China's three great UFO mysteries. No official finding was published.
