What was reported

FBI FD-302 recording a January 2026 interview of a former Department of War employee describing an October 2023 backyard sighting, co-witnessed by his wife. A roughly SUV-sized, low-flying (approx. 300 ft AGL) dark gray or silver triangular object passed overhead with a hazy, rippling, semi-translucent distortion around it, as if seen through mist or underwater, a silverish-blue light band along its trailing edge, moving fast and silently at constant altitude for about four seconds before banking up sharply near vertical without changing course, then vanishing.

What the file claims

2
  • Unverified

Both the witness and his wife saw a fast, silent, low-altitude triangular object surrounded by a rippling, mist-like distortion.

  • Unverified

The object banked in a manner the witness, who is very familiar with USAF aircraft including drones, said did not match anything he had encountered before.
