What was reported

Prospector Stefan (Steve) Michalak told a passing highway patrol officer he had been burned by a 'spaceship': two glowing discs had descended, one landed, he heard voices, touched it with a gloved hand and was struck by hot exhaust through a grid-like vent as it lifted off. He was treated for first-degree burns on his abdomen that night, and the RCMP, the RCAF, Canadian health authorities and the Condon study (Case 22) investigated. Weeks later Michalak returned to the site unannounced with a companion and produced a burnt shirt, a steel tape and soil, some with low-level radioactivity that investigators thought consistent with a natural vein or radium paint. Condon investigator Roy Craig found many inconsistencies and judged the case not probative; a 1968 recurrence of grid-like marks was judged by a psychiatrist likely self-inflicted, and skeptic Aaron Sakulich proposed an alcohol-related accident.
