What was reported
The crew of a Chilean Navy helicopter filmed a warm object trailing a plume on its infrared camera for about ten minutes; ground radar did not show it and the crew could not raise it on radio. Chile's official UAP committee CEFAA studied it for two years and released it in 2017 as unidentified, after ruling out birds, balloons and aircraft. Mick West and other analysts then matched it with flight-tracking data to Iberia flight 6830 departing Santiago, with the plume its contrail and engine heat. The workbench's verification marked that identification supported.

Mick West's 2016-2017 debunking of the Chilean Navy UFO video (showing it was a distant plane) is, per both speakers, essentially resolved.
It was actually just a distant plane. And we were able to prove that pretty conclusively.
Our check Confirmed: the November 2014 Chilean Navy helicopter infrared video was analyzed by Mick West, who used flight-tracking data to match it to a four-engine commercial jet (Iberia flight IB6830) at 15,000-25,000 feet, its aerodynamic contrail and engine heat explaining the thermal signature; CEFAA's original two-year investigation had not identified the object but West's later plane match is treated in the UFO-research community as having effectively resolved the case.

- Contested
In the Chilean Navy UFO case, government investigators sequentially eliminated birds, balloons and planes and then declared the object a genuine anomaly; it was later determined to actually be a plane.
the Chilean government investigation into it went through all possible things and they eliminated various things... ended up saying this is a genuine anomaly. Turns out though it was actually a plane.
Our check The Chilean side holds: the CEFAA documents on the 11 November 2014 Navy helicopter video record that its analysts ruled out a bird, hang glider, airplane, insect, drone and parachute plus a meteorological cause, and a consultant concluded the object had 'all the characteristics to be classified as an unidentified aerial phenomenon'. The plane identification (Iberia IB6830 out of Santiago, matched on ADS-B track, banking and thermal size) is Metabunk's 2017 analysis, led by West himself; no official Chilean body is recorded as adopting it, and some analysts still dispute it. 'Turns out it was a plane' presents a strong independent identification as settled fact.
