What was reported

O Cruzeiro magazine photographer Ed Keffel, with reporter João Martins, said he took five photographs of a disc in about a minute over Barra da Tijuca; the magazine published them as proof of flying saucers. Donald Menzel and Lyle Boyd noted in 1963 that the disc is lit from the left while the hillside below is lit from the right. The Condon project (case 48) confirmed the inconsistency on its own enlargements and rejected Olavo Fontes's explanation of it, and treats the case as an example of 'incontrovertible' photographs with an internal contradiction.
